6 YouTube SEO Practices that you should follow

1. Video File Name

Before uploading your video to YouTube make sure you rename the video file to your keyword. For example: if your keyword is “Social Media”, then rename your file name to “socialmedia.mp4″.

It will automatically be ranked higher on YouTube as soon as you upload the video against the videos of competitors who have a computer generated file name.

2. Double Title

Do ensure that you enter the keyword in the title twice. Yes, twice. One should be your exact keyword & the second one would be LSI keyword (latent semantic indexing). For e.g. “How to increase Facebook likes: Increase Facebook likes with one simple trick”.

3. Optimizing Description

Make sure your description is very well written of about 200-250 words, and it has a keyword density of 3-4%. The keyword density in the description can really be the turning point so spend some time on it.

If you use bit.ly or any URL shortner, try to get the exact url in there. For e.g. if your keyword is blogging, then try to get the url as bit.ly/blogging. It will give you an extra boost.

4. Ripping of Tags

If you are unsure of which tags to use, don’t worry. You can rip other videos tag as well. If your video is about weight loss, then find a video that is working on the similar product, copy the URL after the first =sign. Then go to the YouTube keyword tool and paste the URL there. You will be able to see all the tags that are being used for that video. Copy them and you are good to go.

5. Annotations

After you upload the video, make sure you use atleast one annotation within your video. And that annotation should contain your keyword for sure. It can be either your main keyword or LSI, both works great with them.

6. Promotion

Make sure you promote your video perfectly. I would personally prefer you to buy some fiverr gigs for this purpose. Some gigs like submitting your website to traffic geyser, social bookmarking for videos works awesome when we talk about getting them ranked. Make sure you check them until it’s too late.
