7 Tips for Newbie Affiliate Marketers

1. Build an Email List

Email list is something that is one of the most powerful source of traffic when it comes to affiliate marketing. And the majority of the newbie affiliate marketers are not aware of this concept.

I strongly urge you all to start building an email list as soon as possible. Just think about the power of having more than 5000 people waiting to get your email on a particular stuff.

And you can directly shoot them email to their inbox day in & day out. I believe nothing more is required to explain the importance of an email list.

I personally use AWEBER to manage my email list, and I recommend the same to you as well.

2. Build trust with your audience

Having an email list of people that don’t trust you will be of no use. You need to work to build trust with them so that whenever you pitch them to buy some product, they are willing to buy without even second thought.

And one simple way to build trust with people is promote products that are of high quality and provide real value to the people.

Never ever try to take your readers or subscribers as granted, and always keep in mind that they have the option to unsubscribe. Provide high quality stuff & real value to them. You will automatically see money flowing in.

3. Don’t promote crap products

Promoting crap products just because they are paying high commissions is a strategy that will definitely ruin your business in the long run. You must have heard of an old saying – Short term loss & long term gains.

Almost every business out there runs on the above mentioned saying. But, by promoting crap products you are trying to earn profits from short term work, and it will definitely leave an adverse effect on your business.

Not only people will lose trust on you but they will also spread the work that you promote crap products. And you will be able to see the affiliate income decreasing at a steady pace, and almost diminishing one day.

Stay away from crap stuff and promote the stuff that provide real value to people.

4. Learn about Keyword Research

Keywords are an important aspect of affiliate marketing. You should definitely be aware of the fact how they work, and if you don’t about it, you are way behind in affiliate marketing.

Keyword research enables you to be aware about what all products to promote, will you be able to rank for those keywords to get organic traffic or not. And the list goes on.

I personally use Market Samurai for keyword research and I recommend the same to you.

5. Work on Traffic

Learn the tricks of traffic generation. If you are one of the persons who face issues while generating traffic to your affiliate site, then please don’t call yourself a affiliate marketer. Because you are not.

This particular thing is where you need to get mastery. Yes, you heard right – mastery. You should learn all the strategies that can generate targeted traffic to your sites.

More traffic definately means more subscribers & more affiliate sales. So, don’t ignore this point.

6. Learn Split Testing

Split testing is something that you have to do on day to day basis to check what kind of a page is converting well. Split testing or A/B testing is really important in affiliate marketing as you can never be sure what kind of page is motivating people to subscribe or buy the product.

So, when you run two or three different versions of pages for one single product, you can easily see the results that which page is converting well & which one is not performing well.

And by this way you can make sure that each time you are using the best possible landing page for a product that will keep your conversion rate high.

I personally use Simple Page Tester for split testing purposes and I recommend the same.

  2. Hmm.. Nice article Harneet …. But i would recommend feedburner instead of aweber for newbies …. bcoz u can still get their email id’s, after which you can opt for aweber

    • Hi Kaxil,

Yes you can definately use feedburner. But you will not be able to send custom generated emails to your readers with Feedburner. So, collecting emails in Feedburner would be of no use.

And moreover you can never transfer those emails directly into Aweber. All the subscribers need to verify again to be a part of Aweber email list. So, I personally prefer to start building list directly with Aweber from the very beginning.

      • Using Feedburner is a feasible choice for beginners but the drawback is you will only get their email id and not other details such as name, which is a main thing need to more personally pitch the product.

Harneet,You can easily import your feedburner email subscribers to Aweber and user are no longer needed to verify email again.

  6. I’ve read many AWeber reviews and all of them say that AWeber is the best in their niche but I use MailChimp. Why? I’m very low on budget and MailChimp provides a free account up to 2500 subscribers. While I haven’t got more than 2500 I’ll stay on MailChimp, when I’ll exceed this limit – I’ll move to AWeber.

  8. Good tips. I would also like to add to the first tip that getting a good autoresponder right from the start is very important.
I have changed a lot of autoresponders through the years and I should say that right now I would have a much bigger list, if I had a good autoresponder right from the beginning.
